Apple Laptop Vs Desktop

Mac Laptop vs Desktop??

Im getting a new computer for school next year. I have the opportunity to choose between Mac and PC, laptop and desktop. I can either get a laptop that is a, PC b / c Apple notebook is too expensive or I can get an iMac Deskop. What think I should get? and if the PC, any suggestions on what brand?
